I am honored to be here to witness the Inauguration of @POTUS Joe Biden and @VP Kamala Harris in a ceremony that has affirmed our democracy and celebrated the best of what America stands for. I send my congratulations, best wishes, and prayers as they begin their important work.

On this MLK Day, it is clearer than ever that progress is possible, but that we have many more miles to march before we reach the Beloved Community for which Dr. King lived and died. We should honor him in word & deed with a commitment to justice, equality, service & compassion.

Happy birthday Betty White! You're a national treasure. Hillary and I hope you have a good one and wish you many, many more. With a little luck, we'll find a rerun of Golden Girls tonight!

As the longest-serving state senate leader in Maryland and US history, my friend Mike Miller had an amazing ability to get things done. He was also fiercely loyal. If he had your back, you never had to look over your shoulder. My thoughts are with Patti and the entire family.

Today marks the anniversary of the Haiti Earthquake. We remember lives lost and recognize the commitment of the Haitian people and the Haiti Action Network who despite the COVID-19 pandemic work tirelessly to build a stronger more inclusive and prosperous future for all Haitians.

My heart is with the people of Haiti on this 11th anniversary of the devastating earthquake—all those who lost loved ones on that terrible day, and all those who continue to work toward building a better future.

If that’s who we really are, we must reject today’s violence, turn the page, and move forward together—honoring our Constitution, remaining committed to a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

I have always believed that America is made up of good, decent people. I still do.

Today we faced an unprecedented assault on our Capitol, our Constitution, and our country.

The assault was fueled by more than four years of poison politics spreading deliberate misinformation, sowing distrust in our system, and pitting Americans against one another.

The match was lit by Donald Trump and his most ardent enablers, including many in Congress, to overturn the results of an election he lost.

The election was free, the count was fair, the result is final. We must complete the peaceful transfer of power our Constitution mandates.

My thanks for a wonderful tribute to my friend Governor Bill Winter, what kind of a man he was, and what he stood for.

With the passing of Governor William F. Winter, Mississippi has lost one of its greatest champions of equality, reconciliation, and progress; and I have lost a friend, an inspiration, and one of the finest people I’ve ever known.

He was an excellent DNC Chair who helped our candidates win up and down the ballot, even in places that weren’t Democratic strongholds. To the very end, he was cheering them on. I’ll always be grateful for his friendship, wise counsel, and support.

Don Fowler was a good man with a sharp mind and a big heart whose life embodied his commitment to opportunity and inclusion for all Americans.

What an honor to cast one of New York’s 29 electoral votes in Albany today for President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris.

On the 25th anniversary of the Dayton Accords, we remember the lives lost during the conflict, and the courage of those who made peace possible. Today, and over the next 25 years, we commit to investing in a better future for all the people of Bosnia & Herzegovina and the region.

Over the course of his legendary career, Charley Pride moved millions and changed country music forever. I’ll always be grateful for his songs and his personal kindness, and especially for performing at my first White House Christmas tree lighting ceremony 27 years ago this week.

On this Human Rights Day - as repressive regimes crack down, as people flee from violent conflict, and the pandemic exacerbates threats - we must remember our shared responsibility to one another. And we must commit to standing up for the rights of others, at home and abroad.

Chuck Yeager’s daring and skill captured our imaginations and expanded our understanding of what was possible. His contributions to aviation were immeasurable, and he will he missed.
