A week ago MAGA terrorists, incited by Trump, his son, his lawyer, and months of lies by far too many folks in the GOP and media, tried to stop the Constitutional election process through a terrorist attack on the Capitol. 5 were killed. They are now trying to change the subject.
What happened last week was horrific. Five dead that day, two subsequent suicides. Pay attention to the people trying to change the subject and ask yourselves why. Might it be because they bear some responsibility and want to avoid consequences?
Replying to @tedlieu: Another video of the mob, incited by Donald Trump, attacking law enforcement.

Some of my favorite memories of making Freaks and Geeks are of watching Jessica Campbell and @sethrogen figure their relationship out in improvisations. Jessica was so funny and an amazing, thoughtful actress. What a terrible loss.

This has moved past the insurrection attempt. We’ve learned that GOP members gave tours to insurrectionists, coordinated with their leaders, and are trying to carry guns on the House floor.
They're putting barriers around the Capitol, but the threat is on the inside right now.
YouTube suspends Trump!
But only for 1 week. With YouTube's "3 strikes" rule, Trump gets to incite violence 2 MORE TIMES before it bans him!
Are you kidding?!
RT to tell @YouTube, @SusanWojcicki:
Prevent more violence, ban Trump PERMANENTLY.

We need to cut through the baloney. Until Republicans forthrightly admit that Biden *legitimately* won the election and that Trump's lies about it are the cause of the violence, their phony calls for unity deserve nothing but contempt and derision.

10/10. Politicians who do not tell the simple truth perpetuate the Big Lie, further an alternative reality, support conspiracy theories, weaken democracy, and foment violence far worse than that of January 6, 2021.
It’s simple. These GOP “leaders” NEED to acknowledge they lost the election. If they don’t, they’re inciting violence by making people believe their democracy was stolen. Until they acknowledge there was NO evidence of mass voter fraud, their followers will continue to plot.
Who the fuck would want to unite with fascists?

Warning: violent video. This footage shows rioters viciously beating police at the Capitol entrance. I hadn’t seen this clip, via @Storyful, until now.
This is what a violent insurrection looks like. This is what the GOP thinks there should be no accountability for.
Replying to @BreeNewsome: “A source close to the WH who is in touch with some of the rioters”
Quoted @Acosta
A source close to the White House who is in touch with some of the rioters at the Capitol said it's the goal of those involved to stay inside the Capitol through the night.

The elected officials who amplified & repeated known lies about our elections served as drum corps to insurrectionists.
The drum major in the House was @GOPLeader Kevin McCarthy.
Rep. McCarthy bears unique, elevated responsibility in all this chaos. He must resign.
Replying to @RonanFarrow: Another line of inquiry. Tips welcome at ronan_farrow@newyorker.com.
Many behind the #CapitolRiots don't see a loss - they see a victory, and proof they can accomplish radical actions, says domestic extremism expert @jaredlholt @dfrlab who for weeks monitored escalating, violent rhetoric and coordination - things that authorities did not act on.

NEW FOOTAGE: a long, disciplined line of men in body armor moves as a unit up the #CapitolBuilding steps.
We need to identify this group.
Grateful to @lehudgins for the find.

Let’s be very clear.
The officials urging for no serious consequences after Wednesday’s attack on our country - including the impeachment, removal, expulsion, and/or indictment of officials who aided, abetted, or incited the attack - are opening the door for it to happen again.

WARNING: Violent graphic content. We've published video of the moments leading up the fatal shooting of Ashli Babbitt. At one point, the Capitol police blocking the door to the Speaker's Lobby step aside and let the mob pound on the glass to get in.
