Black maintenance staff, who were likely forced to hide during insurrection, are cleaning up the mess of a white mob that hung a noose outside the Capitol.
Replying to @RepBarbaraLee: Capitol support staff & maintenance workers were also forced to evacuate because of Trump’s attempted coup.
Today was truly a microcosm of U.S. history: Black and allied movements showing the promise of a fully realized democracy, followed up by extremely predictable white backlash, and ending with the ruling elites feigning innocence.
And so in summary...
Capitol support staff & maintenance workers were also forced to evacuate because of Trump’s attempted coup.
Hard-working people of color having to clean up the destruction from white supremacists is a sad illustration of the systems of injustice that are alive & well today.
